SUKARI GOLD MINE
Discover Our Journey So Far
Sukari Gold Mine, Egypt’s first modern gold mine, is located in the Nubian Desert near the Red Sea and is jointly operated by Egyptian Ministry of Mineral Resources and Centamin. UGCE was entrusted with the civil design and engineering for a solar PV power facility on this active mine site near Marsa Alam. Our work included civil design of mechanical equipment foundations, unpaved gravel roads spanning approximately 2.1 km, and the site’s drainage system. We also handled the compaction and grading of two laydown areas totaling 2.4 hectares, conducted backfill compaction testing, and ensured quality and safety by witnessing pile pull-out tests and preparing compliance reports.
